Rewiring Solutions

Bring your ideas to life

Do I need a rewire?

If your property was built more than 25 years ago, then it’s most likely that your installation might need some upgrading. Over this time cabling and accessories might have started to degrade, the DIY expert who had the house previous to you might have done some unsafe alterations, the positioning of lights, sockets or switches might be outdated for the way we now use our homes, or you may be thinking of redecorating your home and want peace of mind that your electrics are safe and refurbished before starting, there are many reasons why rewiring would be the best option for your property. Take advantage of our free visual inspection by filling in our contact form below.

Whats Involved?

1. Preparation is Key

Clients will be asked to remove as much valuables as reasonably possible from the property. The rest of there belongings will be covered in dust sheets. And flooring will be protected where required.

3. Time to get Messy

Carpets and floorboards will be lifted to give us access to route the cables, we will also utilise any loft spaces or basements. Walls will begin to be chased out where required to make room for cables and backboxes.

2. How your Home will Work

We will then use the plan, as discussed with the client, to mark out all your new electrical points, planning the best routes for our cables as we do this.

4. The 1st Fix

All the cabling for your property will now be installed in to position, all back boxes for your accessories will be fitted, and our plasterer will come in and start making good all the cuts and chases.

5. The 2nd Fix

After the plaster has set, we will then install all the accessories throughout the property and fit your new fusebox. This is where we bring your ideas to life with locations of fittings and their design exactly how you like it.

7. Deep Clean

We clean as we go, but at the end, we will do a final clean of every area, and can start removing floor coverings and dust sheets.

6. The Final Test

We carry out our initial verification when carrying out our install, but now that everything is connected, we can do our final tests to ensure the installation is ready to be energised, the results we get here will be displayed on your electrical installation certificate that will be emailed to you.

8. Certification & Building Control Notification

When notifiable electrical work is carried out in your property then the relevant authorities must be notified and paid. Many customers are unaware that the penalty for not doing this is up to £5000!

With Y2 Electrical we take care of this process for you and issue you with all the relevant paperwork.
